Rin and Len

More under the cut

The twins from Vocaloid are here today for the review . And they are ready for the show .
Volks is know for their garage kits and exclusive Japan market , so sadly it’s hard to get a product from them . But now that they’re making PVC’s too , it’s nice to see another (good) manufacturer in the PVC market . The Vocaloid family is quite popular in Japan (and with the help of the Miku phenomena) and in the world so it was a nice move from Volks to chose to make them in PVC .

Rin and Len are standing at a good 22 cm tall and 1/6 scale . The two figures are sold together but you can expose them separately . The original artwork was showing them together so i think it’s better to leave them how they were designed to be . And people at Volks did a nice job , as they look nearly exactly like the original pic . In the box there is two aditional arms if you want to put them in a more “plain” pose . I didn’t took any pics with those , so you’ll only see the more “dynamic” pose .

The paint work is surely the highlight on the twins , as Volks painting is really glossy and totally different from the more “realistic” painting we can see usually on figures . And that makes them stands out . Volks painting is nicely done and quite precise and the colors used are really nice (love the golden paint used on the belt !) but there is some scratches and little seamlines on the figures . But i personaly don’t think it’s a big problem , as the quality is high enough to warrant a buy . The pose is really nice and getting two figures as one is quite awesome .

Rin and Len are two awesome looking twins and their glossy paint and great “diorama” pose are sure helping them to stand out . Volks did a great job and those two are surely going to be better than the Good Smile versions , like with the already out Miku .

9.4/10 , a must buy if you like the characters or if you like glossy/flashy paint (and no , it’s not a glossy paint like Koto’s ;) ) . The twins are hard to find and at a heavy price but i think they’re worth it :)

@ Blowfish : yeah i love the glossy look ^^ . I can understand why you prefer Rin’s pants than Len :( . But i agree and i forgot to write about the details on the clothes in the review :(

The gloss painting was beautiful in front of the black background, but without the contrast, they were kinda painful to look at…

Volks does some fantastic figures, but I actually didn’t like the glossy paint used on Rin and Len. It’s somewhat too plastic-like and shiny for me, even though they are plastic. ^^” I prefer GSC’s version, even if I don’t like the pose for Rin. Haha … I am hard to please. I think the black background works very well with the figures and especially like the first photo under the cut.

@ Snark : I personaly like the glossy look but i can understand it being a problem for some ;)

@ Yuuu : tu as pris le set complet ? tu as gagné au loto ?

    @ ELTboy : Glossy FTW ! :p . I don’t like GSC version , but it’s only my opinion :) . And thanks , i love the black background too ^^

    @ kyn chan : merci :)

I really love the pictures, they look great indeed. I saw the pictures uploaded to your flickr account the other day so I’d already seen them, the only thing I think is a bit odd is Len’s nail polish :3 not that it’s bad though I don’t mind, just caught me off guard XD The glossy paint job looks great, it’s too bad I’ve got so much ordered right now I don’t dare try to fit these in the budget :x

Oooh Volks Rin & Len! =D They look awesome, I really love the details~ I’d love to get my hands on this two as well as the previous Miku Volks… Too bad it’s only Japan exclusive release, so it’s pretty hard to get on them… James you’re lucky! x3 Anyway I also prefer the pictures with black background, it looks better for the eye lol, and the second picture there is my favorite too =D

Never knew that Volks have made the Kagamine twins, and in gloss!

Having gloss in figures is unuusal, but I think it works for Rin & Len combo, as they are kinda… Digital (if you know what I mean :P ). On the other hand, they look pretty nice together in different positions, be it back-to-back or facing each other. The black background has surely worked the best for them~

I hesitated to buy to go with my Miku from GSC. Rin is particularly charming. But I think we should buy both, it’s like birds “inseparable”.

  33. Comment by Chaos-Shadow:

As a die-hard fan of the twins – I pretty much drooled at the site of the Volk’s version of the twins – honestly, I am in utter love with the flashy, shiny paint they used – it really gives it some pizzaz! The gold tone is great, and the shine it gives to their leg warmers are just incredible!
It’s the kind of thing where I am really willing to lay down the cash – if I had enough to spare! I’m not a figure collector at all – just some nendoroids – 4 – and one SEGA Kagamine Rin figure. :)
Compared to GSC’s figma’s – these are just way better! Something about the joints on the figma’s is not to my liking – but the faces on these are just so adorable! Very cartoon-y looking. :)
All in all – one day I’ll find the cash to fork out $200+ to get these!
