Fate T.Harlaown Shin Sonic Form 1/7 (Alter) review

Here’s finally one of the most preordered figure this year, the 1/7 adult version of Fate Harlaown by Alter. This version is MASSIVE and if you remember the “old” version , well she’s two time her size. The amount of details are doubled too and the overall quality got a big boost too. We can easily call this Fate the ultimate version, as i doubt we’ll ever see again a Fate so big and detailed.
Alter work on Fate is flawless, she is exactly like the proto shots and the paint work is just great. Lovely shiny paint and every clothes parts are finely painted without any mistake. It’s perfect and it’s what we should get all the time. Sadly not all figures manufacturers are as good in the painting details as Alter … Fate’s hair is impressive too and her pose is dynamic and sexy as the same time. This Fate is an otaku dream, you can’t even tell it’s only PVC (and ABS of course), as if you put her in the midle of cold cast kits or resins, she will still stay the center of attention. Yes, she’s THAT awesome .
If i had to find a bad thing about her, well it’s the base, the same one like the other Nanoha characters. But who cares ? She could have been even better with a designed base but oh well …
So overall, this new Fate is THE one to get and i’m impressed by Alter’s work on her. A new reference for sure.
Without surprise, Fate Shin Sonic Form gets 5 Exelica out of 5. I truly believe she’s the most gorgeous figure this year and she’s too impressive to miss. So if you love Fate, don’t miss her !

Je trouve aussi que ca rend bien , comme quoi la seule solution que j’avais de faire des photos d’elle a été la bonne … J’ai pris les photos en étant pas confiant , au final le rendu est correct…

Cette figurine est tout bonnement splendide!!! 20/20, elle mérite bien les 5 exelicas que tu lui as mis.
Je n’ai jamais vu une figurine aussi bien détaillé, surtout au niveau des cheveux, c’est impressionnant.
Quand à tes photos, je te dis “merci”. Elle sont superbe. La plupart des reviews/photos que j’ai vu de Fate m’ont déçu, en particulier celles de FooBarBaz.
Et puis, avoir pris ton beau sapin en “fond” était une excellente idée.
Je te le redis, tes deux photos sur fond noir sont parfaites!!! J’ai d’ailleurs pris la dernière comme fond d’écran.
T’es trop fort!!!

Et dire que je suis quasi dur que c’est Saber Lilly qui va etre élue fig de l’année alors qu’elle est a la ramasse techniquement par rapport a cette Fate …Bref mon vote va pour Fate sans meme réflechir

Je pense également que ce sera Saber Lily qui va être élue.
D’ailleurs, je crois que Fate ne sera même pas dans les 5 figurines les plus nommées. C’est dommage car elle le mérite.

Elle est superbe, n’est-ce pas? Belles photos, super l’effet bokeh avec les lumières du sapin.
Cette année nous avons déjà été traitée à des figures vraiment superbes, Alter et GSC ont vraiment rehaussée la barre vers un niveau supérieur. Saber Lily et Yoko m’ont déjà épaté mais Fate est encore plus étonnante. Surtout que fate est vraiment impeccable, aucune faute de peinture, pas de petit coups ou taches, elle est top.

Je suis pas si fan de GSC , je les trouve largement sur estimé … Je veux dire , oui ils sortent du bon , mais le niveau de peinture et la qualité du PVC utilisé est a mon gout en dessous d’Alter et Max Factory . Mais la n’est pas le sujet , j’espere que Black Rock Shooter me fera changer d’avis :p
Mais oui Fate est parfaite , elle devrait servir d’exemple niveau qualité . Dommage qu’elle soit si galere a prendre en photo :p
Pas a dire merci , ca m’embetait de pas avoir de lien a poster ce coup ci , donc j’etais content de voir ta reviews (avec de belles photos en plus)

Impressive photos as always! Love the night time photo shoot! I had to do a last minute cancellation on Alter Fate… sadly I no longer have enough room to display a figure this massive horizontally, plus, I think I don’t like the way they had her mouth open… would have preferred her with a different mouth shape.

So other than the weather, custom fees is something to hate about France as well? -_-
Unfortunately I have only enough room for ONE epic figure and I chose Nanoha. I even got a new bookcase JUST FOR HER so I already went the extreme here. lol
Great review, love the chrismasy background (I want some more pictures of ur tree
) and ur pictures make FATE LOOK EPIC.
Are u getting Nanoha as well? Fate will look twice as EPIC with her. xD

Very interesting background and I like how you used the christmas tree as the background. To be honest I’ve almost mistakened those shiny balls as city lights ^^;
From your and meronpan’s photos, Fate sure looks awesome. I think I won’t regret pre-ordering her in the first place, which arrived 3 weeks ago. Say, do you have anywhere to display her? I am still thinking about where I can put her once I come back home as I am currently away from home, so can’t see Fate myself yet… And thanks to her, I probably won’t buy anymore scale PVC figures anymore for the time being. orz

1. You mention her lackluster base, and then you don’t provide a shot of it? For shame!
More seriously, I think she may not have a base with much effort put into it because she’s suspended in the air, so you should put her in such a height that the angle is not directed at the base anyway.
2. Your photos are interesting. With the “red” background, as I think of a background of dark with lights (an “Urban” background, so to speak) makes her colours pop, but since she is mostly on the darker side of things with the black and dark blue, I am not sure how much it works. Also, her hair, I’d have to see with a white background, because, as we’ve talked before, a dark shot makes the vividness truly jump, and it also makes things look too plastic-like at times.
A suggestion, always include one photo of the other type, that is to say, with a white/black background, just to let people glean more details.
Of course, a natural light photo would be great, if a hassle
I think it’s a pretty great figure, but the price, and the rods put me off it, even if I had the money. I just dislike rods. An issue, since I pretty like the upcoming Saber by Alter…

Well , as you maybe know (or not) , i only have a telezoom lens so for big figures , i can’t do any studio shots at all . That’s why i did this background . But i thought it worked well , as the colors are exactly like in “real” .
As for taking pics of each figure with differents background , i would like to do that but changing and setting it up takes lots of time (because of my small space) and with one it already takes me like 2 hours just doing it
