Canaan 1/8 Good Smile

More under the cut

Good: Great dynamic pose, base more detailled than usual, bigger than expected.

Bad: Control quality sux, some samples of Canaan are poorly painted at best. The hair is not looking too great, too bulky. Poor painting on the base, especially if you compare to the proto shots.

This Canaan is not a bad figure, mine is correct but i saw some very bad painted one out there. So another Good Smile figure, another lottery. Not as bad as the control quality for World is Mine but still really bad for Good Smile.

Canaan is getting three Exelica out of five.

I pretty much concur, especially about the base. GSC has had some nice prototypes and ideas with regards to doing something interesting with the bases, but the execution is off.

yeah, sad that they seem to concentrate on nendoroids instead of making their scale figures the good way …

Hm so the problematic quality check is still going down the line recently? That can hurt the reputation of the company, especially when they have given the fans and collectors a lot of expectation from the proto shots / previews.

The figure looks fine from the pictures. The base, um are you good with touch-ups? If you know how to do weathering then maybe you can make the base look more realistic by making it more dirt-like. Not sure how but I know there are weathering kits by e.g. Tamiya which are like make-up boxes with brushes. Maybe useful I dunno :o

Nice photos – I would’ve never thought to use flowers as a background for Canaan! I really like the last one though, all the white and glowing reflections creates a pretty cool aura around her.

Voila d’abord (a)*

    Donc voila quoi ^^

Ooooh looks like you were really lucky!
I was quite shocked about Canaans Quality when I saw the first real pictures up on HobbySearch and I was more thna glad that I canceled her and Canaan earlier even though it was for different reasons.I hope GSC catches up to their good times.Nothign worse than offering a game of hit and miss when so much cash is involved

Look at that hair! Yikes! What did GSC do?! Nasty seamlines and excess bits of plastic? I expect that sort of thing from Kotobukiya, NOT GSC. Good thing this figure never really appealed to me. The pose is cool but I just don’t like the character design.
