Kousaka Tamaki Swimsuit Version 1/4 (Gift)

After getting disappointed by Good Smile and Max Factory lately, and starting to get bored by the figures world (too much figmas and nendos and no originality), i wasn’t expecting to be impressed by a Gift figure. Especially when she’s a swimsuit one. I mean yes i love Gift’s work, but a 1/4 figure with an overall quality better than Alter ? Never thought it was possible. The 1/4 figures from FREeing are good but not many details and the faces and colors are kinda bland, the Nanoha and Fate 1/4 are big and beautifull, but still misses something to be perfect. And now the Tamaki by Gift.
If i had to chose one figure, one figure to represent what i want to see more, what i expect in painting and quality, it would be this one. No no, i’m not joking. THIS IS PERFECTION.
This is what we should always get for the lots of money we are paying to get figures. But no, all we are getting lately are figures differents than the proto shots or bad quality control.
Well the people from Gift didn’t bother about respecting the proto shots, in fact they made the retail version better than it.
I know that saying that a swimsuit figure, especially another Kousaka Tamaki, is perfect, awesome and everything is maybe hurting my credibility (if i had any), but i am no fanboy. I always try to review fairly all the figures i’m getting, and this is what i’m doing here. I’ll say it just once: this big girl is better looking and better finished than every other figures in my collection (yes even the resins), she’s that awesome. The skin tone and the work on the hair are really impressive. Sadly my pics (and every other pic on the net) can’t show you truly how great she is, but i’m pretty sure that every collector who have her is going to share my opinion (or insult me 
).
The only critic that i can accept is maybe the big full mouth smile that she has, i know it bother some, but it was a choice and i think she look good like this. But yeah, maybe a more realistic smile would have been better but it’s not bothering me (it did before getting her).
Anyway, big sexy girl perfectly painted with a perfect finish, great shading everywhere, nice pose and well balanced, price not too high. This 1/4 Tamaki Kousaka by Gift is the queen of figure for me, and Gift just stole Alter’s crown in quality and beauty.

Big Tamaki is BIG. Look how little the Morishima Haruka from Max Factory looks ! And btw, Haruka is another disappointment from Max Factory, but maybe i’ll do a review later.
Tamaki is getting five Exelica out of five and the Exelica Queen trophy. She’s now the figure to beat.

Good looking quality but the face doesn’t look very much like Tama-nee. T_T

Her face was i think a deliberate choice, you know, if she had Tamaki’s usual face, she would have been just another Tamaki in a sea of others. There is a lot of Tamaki figures out there, and after last year Max Factory’s version, i think it was impossible to give her a better face. So they chose to change her face and made her more “original” ^^.

She looks surprisingly well done I have to say. I’m definitely not a fan of Tamaki though and wish she would disappear. Too many figures.
I don’t know if I’d ever buy a 1/4th scale figure, I often feel the bigger they are the less detail they seem to have. But Gift seems to have managed to negate that effect for me. Though, perhaps it’s due to being a swimsuit figure where detail isn’t necessarily required anyway.

I agree that there is too many Tamaki … That’s why i was happy to see that they changed her face on this one ^^
Yes, bigger figures are usually less detailled but not this one, they did a great job. The 1/4 FREeing are way less good …

Nice to hear that you’ve found your favorite ^-^, sculpting and paint,especially the shading looks really good.
If I would complain about a detail of her, it would be her wide open mouth. Maybe a closed mouth smile
would have been more fitting for her. Anyway she’s anice looking figure with a pretty body and a sexy outfit.
thx for the size comparison with Haruka, 1/4 seems to be really super huge, won’t fit in my room haha.
Too bad you was disapointed with Max Factory’s Haruka, to me she looked like in the preview shots at mikatan.

Yeah her mouth is going to be a problem for lots of people, but i still like it ^^
I’m mean with Haruka, she does look good, but i’m disappointed by Max Factory lately so i can be harsh sometimes ^^
And yes, Tamaki is huge compared to the tiny Haruka (especially with that pose
)
