Ameri gets 4.5 Exelica out of 5

The good: – nice colors, good skin tone and beautiful painted eyes – exactly like the proto shots, even better – overall quality quite high (and that’s incredible from Orchid Seed)

The bad: – the original artwork was way more cute – is more like a 1/10 than a 1/8

I usually stay away from Orchid Seed, as their figures are always a disappointement. The retail version is always different and the painting is sloppy and far from, let’s say Alter or Max Factory. But with Ameri, they did it right. I mean, it’s the same as the proto shots, the beautiful colors are here and there is no paint problems anywhere. I would even say that it looks like an Alter figure. Yeah she’s that good. Only the hands and the gun could have been better but it’s a minor grip.

If you love cute and sexy girls, you won’t regret buying this one. Just don’t be sad when you’ll open her box, she is really tiny …

Sora gets four Exelica out of five.

The good: – awesome ABS hair, nicely detailled – looks exactly like the proto – i love the little cushion

The bad: Kotobukiya’s usual paint, kinda blank – no shading or at least nothing spectacular

No surprises there, it’s the usual Kotobukiya work at 1/6 scale, it’s nice and everything, but after the stunning Tamaki from Max Factory, it’s hard to be impressed by something from Koto. Still a nice buy for Sora fans, i should know, i am one.

Tamaki Kousaka from Max Factory is getting five Exelica out of five.

And Max Factory is back with a masterpiece. This Tamaki won’t appeal to everybody, as she’s quite sexy (and NSFW) and may be hard to display in a room for some, but she looks quite awesome. It’s not a surprise that Max Fact is the best manufacturer when it comes to the painting and the colors, and it shows again, with a nearly perfect skin tone with nice shading. The painting used is again more softer and less saturated than the usual used by the other manufacturers and it looks great, more realistic. And of course the retail version is exactly like the proto shots so you won’t be disappointed. Overall a gorgeous figure, with great colors and a flawless finish. But maybe she is too sexy for you. I think i’ll live :p

The good: – flawless painting and great shading, skin tone is perfect, lovely colors and the base is nice with the soft and fluffy material on it.

The bad: – her boobs are too big ? yeah i know it’s not going to be a problem for everyone

Of course, Mercedes is getting five Exelica out of five.

The bad: – ??? do i really need to write something here?

It’s simple, this Mercedes from Alter is the new “champion” in the figure world, there is no PVC more polished, detailled and stunning than this one. The paint used is simply gorgeous and the retail version is as perfect as every figures should be. The only minor gripe would be her arbalest that looks like a toy close up, compared to all the rest that looks nearly “organic”.

If you only have money to buy one figure this year, don’t hesitate one second. Really, don’t. It’s the first time i see a retail figure as flawless and perfect as this one, there is no dot, scratch or any little mark on Mercedes. I’m simply impressed and i’m just going to be even more hard on GSC now.

Elwing gets 4.5 Exelica out of 5 (i really wanted to give her a 5 but the painting can still be better)

The good: – she looks like the proto shots – big, gracious and ultra sexy – the hair is detailled but still perfectly made without any defect – great use of gradiant colors on the clothes.

The bad: – the paint work is good on most parts but some sloppy painting there and there, if you looks closely you can even spot some little marks and defects on the “dress” – the paint used is not “vibrant” enough, as always with Kotobukiya.

Yay, for once no disappointement with a figure. Another 1/6 figure that prove my theory that Kotobukiya’s figures are not great when they’re 1/8 but they’re way better when they’re bigger. This Elwing is beautifuly sculpted and looks gorgeous. The paint job is sloppy at time but for the most part and at a normal distance, it looks awesome (and the nails are painted, pink). Gradiant colors looks great and the base color is beautiful. And you can’t really see with pics, but believe me, Elwing’s eyes looks amazing from close up (both pair yeah but i meant the upper ones ^-^).

A beautiful figure that you should buy if you like beautiful girls. And i know you all do.

Yuzuko is getting three Exelica out of five.

The good: looks really exactly like the proto shots (all but the chain …), the pose and base are awesome, hair is nicely sculpted.

The bad: WTF IS THAT AWFUL PVC CHAIN ? Where is the great chain that is on all the official shots ? Yes it is indeed in the box but WE CAN’T PUT IT ON THE FIGURE ITSELF. Thank you Good Smile for another fail …

So yeah that’s it, the figure itself is really nice, it got a “Shuraki” feeling and the paint and everything is really nicely done. No defects this time. But why an awful looking pvc chain when we get a real one in the box that we can’t put on the figure ? It’s nice to show us great promotional shots and stuff but is that normal that we can’t have the same figure that is on the box ? I’m sorry but i can’t find a way to put the real chain the same way that it should be … Maybe i’m stupid or something, or maybe it’s another lie from GSC … No comment.

If you liked the Shuraki figures from Good Smile, this one is worth a get. but just don’t expect to put the real chain on her, you’ll just have to do with the fake looking one …

Good: Great dynamic pose, base more detailled than usual, bigger than expected.

Bad: Control quality sux, some samples of Canaan are poorly painted at best. The hair is not looking too great, too bulky. Poor painting on the base, especially if you compare to the proto shots.

This Canaan is not a bad figure, mine is correct but i saw some very bad painted one out there. So another Good Smile figure, another lottery. Not as bad as the control quality for World is Mine but still really bad for Good Smile.

Why indeed, i don’t like saying the same thing again and again. It’s a figure from Alter so as always, i don’t have much to say about the overall quality. As for the figure itself, well it’s Nanoha but in her younger self this time. So lolicons friends rejoice !

This Stand By Ready version of Nanoha (coming from the movie) is without any surprise the best version of young Nanoha available, way better than the now old Good Smile version. Not as impressive as her adult version, she compensates this with the two forms of Raising Heart that can be displayed beside Nanoha on a little base. And the way she is standing high over the base mades her look like she’s really floating, a nice touch. Painting is as always with Alter perfectly done and there’s nothing wrong to signal quality wise. A great figure for all the Nanoha fans and lolicons out there (lots !).

Nanoha Stand By Ready gets 4.5 Exelica out of 5.

Here’s finally my (late) review of the big Nanoha from Alter. There are already lots of pics of her around and great reviews so you don’t need to hear much good about her, you already know everything. In fact, i’m pretty sure that if you’re a figures collector/you have lots of money/you’re a Nanoha fanboy/you just sold the house, you already got her in your collection.

So yes, like Fate, Nanoha is a masterpiece, eveything is finely painted and it’s for sure the best Nanoha available on the market. And i’m sure it’ll stay like this for a while. But i heard some people got problems with their Nanoha’s and i got one with mine too. The “pearls” on her dress and clothes goes off or are not correctly glued. On mine it’s the one on her left arm that is not correctly fixed. Still, it’s a minor problem compared to GSC “oh i forgot to write World is Mine on the base” problem …

Nanoha is a big and beautiful figure, perfectly painted and a must have for any figures collector or fan of the show. But keep in mind that maybe your Nanoha will have some little problems, nothing than can’t be fixed with some glue. And i hope you have lots of patience, Nanoha takes quite a while to be ready to expose, after taking out all the protections and everything.

Nanoha gets 4.5 Exelica out of 5.

Another girl from an eroge, the cute Sora from the game “Yosuga no Sora”. She is quite a hard figure to review. She looks quite simple and not colorful at all. And that’s a problem, as i know lots of people didn’t order her because of that. And she doesn’t looks too good in pictures.

Don’t take me wrong, i love the way she looks, but compared to all the colorful figures we’re getting lately (and i’m not even speaking of the dynamic poses and great bases), she will look boring to some, too simple to others. But for me, that’s what i like about her. I love the more realistic colors, the nice proportions of her body (more realistic too), her cute shy expression, and the melancolic feeling i get just looking at her. And i love her legs, because for once, we get a figures with knees, yes, detailed knees, at least way more than usual. As i’m a legs lover, i’m quite grateful for that ^_^.

Sora looks great and her body is nicely sculpted and proportioned, she has a cute face and it’s even better with her towel (nicely done too). Her shyness and the way she’s trying to envelopp herself with her towel are totally cute. Her hair is nicely painted too with no paint dots or anything. Overall the paint job is fine, not as good as, let’s say Alter, but it’s still nice. And don’t forget the rabbit, totally cute too.

Good work from Megahouse but nothing spectacular either. it’s Megahouse so it is exactly as expected, never worth, never better.

A melancolic shy cute and delicious looking girl named Sora is waiting for you. Maybe you should pick her. She is worth it, i promise you.
